Real-Time Translations

Sparkup offers a feature for real-time transcription and translation of your live events, powered by AI. Your participants can follow the live stream with subtitles in their language while you manage everything from your usual interface. After the event, the replay is available with the full transcription and subtitles embedded in the video.

Enable the Feature

From your session, open the General tab in the left navigation. Locate the Live translation section (marked Beta) and toggle it on.

Once enabled, click the > arrow to open the configuration panel.

Configure the Translation

The configuration panel contains three sections:

Translation Languages

The original transcription is always available to your participants — it corresponds to the text in the language spoken on stage.

To add translation languages, click on the "Add a language..." field and select the desired languages from the list. Over 100 languages are available.

Language(s) Spoken on Stage

By default, the language spoken on stage is automatically detected (auto-detection).
However, if your event is conducted in one or more specific language(s), it is recommended to specify them to improve translation quality.

💡 Code-switching: If multiple languages are spoken during the live event (for example, one speaker in French, another in English), Sparkup automatically detects language changes and adapts the transcription accordingly.

Glossary

The Glossary field allows you to enter keywords specific to your event: proper names, acronyms, industry jargon, product names... Enter them separated by commas to improve transcription accuracy on these terms.

What Your Participants See During the Live Event

On the participant page, a subtitles button appears at the top right of the video player as soon as "Live Translation" is enabled. Participants can:

• Turn subtitles on or off according to their preference
• Choose their language from the configured languages (including the original transcription)

Subtitles are displayed as an overlay on the video, with maximum synchronization and minimal latency to maintain smooth interaction with the audience.

After the live event — Replay and Files

Once the live event ends, Sparkup automatically generates:

• The final transcription: automatically refined after the live event to improve quality (unlike the real-time transcription, the final version benefits from the full session context).
• The replay with embedded subtitles: a version of the video including subtitles for each configured language.
• Dedicated subtitle files: downloadable for each language (standard format compatible with most video players).

💡 Improved quality on replay: translations are regenerated after the live event from the complete video, resulting in better translation quality than during the live stream.
