Broadcast Your Sparkup Live Stream to an External Platform (YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.)

To broadcast your Sparkup session on an external platform, you will need two pieces of information: an RTMP server URL and a stream key. Here’s how to retrieve them on each platform, along with the important limitations to be aware of.

In all cases covered by this article, the destination platform generates RTMP credentials—you then copy them into Sparkup: General > Broadcasting > Add a destination. Sparkup then sends the video stream to the third-party platform.

YouTube

1. Sign in at studio.youtube.com.
2. Click Create > Go live.
3. Choose Streaming software.
4. In the Stream settings tab, copy:
   • Server URL: rtmp://a.rtmp.youtube.com/live2
   • Stream key: click “Copy” or “Show”.

Important information

• Persistent key available ✅ — YouTube offers a permanent stream key that can be reused from one broadcast to the next. In YouTube Studio > Settings > Live streaming, enable the “Persistent stream key” option. The same key will work for all your future live streams without having to regenerate it.
• Starting the live stream — once Sparkup sends the stream, YouTube Studio detects the signal, but the broadcast is not yet visible to the public. Return to YouTube Studio and click “Go live” to make it public.
• Account requirements — your channel must be verified (phone number). For new channels, a 24-hour waiting period may apply before the first live stream.
• Security — do not share the stream key publicly; it provides access to your live channel.

LinkedIn

Requirement: LinkedIn Live access must be enabled on your profile or Page. Submit a request through this LinkedIn Help page if this is not the case.

1. From your LinkedIn profile or Page, click Start a post.
2. Select Live video.
3. Choose Third-party streaming software.
4. LinkedIn displays:
   • Stream URL (format rtmps://...)
   • Stream key
5. Copy these two pieces of information.

Important information

• Persistent key available ✅ (recommended) — LinkedIn offers a persistent stream key that can be reused from one event to the next. To enable it: in LinkedIn Live Studio, click “Prepare to go live” next to your event, then in the Stream settings tab, enable “Persistent stream key”. Copy the key and enter it in Sparkup once and for all. Note: the option is accessible 1 to 2 hours before the scheduled start of the event.
• Temporary credentials without a persistent key ⚠️ — without this option, the RTMP information is valid for 60 minutes and must be regenerated for each broadcast.
• Starting the live stream — once Sparkup sends the stream, return to LinkedIn and manually click “Go live” so your audience can watch the broadcast.
• Maximum duration — a maximum of 8 hours of continuous broadcasting.

Facebook / Meta

1. Go to facebook.com/live/producer.
2. Click Create live video.
3. Select Streaming software.
4. Copy:
   • Server URL: rtmps://live-api-s.facebook.com:443/rtmp/
   • Stream key: generated automatically.

Important information

• Persistent key available ✅ — Facebook offers a permanent stream key in Live Producer. In the live stream settings, look for the “Use a persistent stream key” option. This key can be reused for all your future live streams from the same Page or profile.
• Expiration due to inactivity — a persistent key that is not used for more than 90 days may be automatically deactivated by Facebook.
• Starting the live stream — once Sparkup sends the stream and Facebook detects the signal, click “Go live” in Live Producer to make the broadcast public.
• Maximum duration — a maximum of 8 hours of continuous broadcasting per session.

Twitch

1. Sign in at dashboard.twitch.tv.
2. In the left menu, click Settings > Stream.
3. Copy the Primary stream key (click Show, then copy it).
4. Server URL: rtmp://live.twitch.tv/app/
5. Select the RTMP destination in Sparkup

Important information

• Permanent key ✅ — the Twitch stream key is permanent by default and linked to your account. It remains valid until you manually regenerate it (Settings > Stream > “Reset”).
• Automatic start — as soon as Sparkup sends the stream, your Twitch channel automatically goes live. No manual action is required on Twitch.
• Optimal ingest server — for better performance, choose the ingest server closest to your location via stream.twitch.tv/ingests and replace the URL with the recommended one.
• Partners and affiliates — certain features (multi-quality transcoding, etc.) are reserved for Twitch partner or affiliate accounts.

X (formerly Twitter)

1. Go to studio.twitter.com (Media Studio).
2. In the left menu, click Producer.
3. Click + New broadcast.
4. Copy:
   • RTMP server URL
   • Stream key
5. Select the RTMP destination in Sparkup

Important information

• Very limited-duration credentials ⚠️ — the RTMP information generated by X expires quickly, often within a few hours. Generate it at the last minute, just before starting your broadcast in Sparkup.
• No permanent key — X does not offer a persistent key. Each broadcast requires new credentials to be generated.
• Automatic start — as soon as Sparkup sends the stream and X detects the signal, the broadcast starts automatically. No additional manual action is required on X.
• Access required — X Live via Media Studio may require a verified account (X Premium subscription or accredited media account). If the option does not appear, check your account type.

Zoom

To broadcast your Sparkup session to a Zoom webinar or event, Zoom generates RTMP credentials (incoming ingestion) that you enter in Sparkup. Sparkup then sends the video stream to Zoom.

Requirement: Zoom Events, Zoom Sessions, or Zoom Webinars Plus license. This feature (incoming RTMP) is not available for regular Zoom meetings or standard Zoom Webinars.

1. In your Zoom web portal, enable the Incoming stream (RTMP) option in your webinar or event settings.
2. Zoom generates and displays:
   • RTMP URL
   • Stream key
3. Copy this information and enter it in Sparkup: General > Streaming > External encoder.
4. From your Zoom webinar/event control panel, preview the incoming stream, then approve it to make it visible to viewers.

Important information

• Credentials per session ⚠️ — RTMP credentials are generated per webinar or event. Update the information in Sparkup for each new session.
• Video quality — Zoom supports up to 1080p at 30 frames per second in H.264.
• Required license — this feature is not available with standard Zoom licenses (Meetings or standard Webinars).

Microsoft Teams

To broadcast your Sparkup session to a Teams Live Event, Teams acts as the destination: it generates RTMP credentials that you enter in Sparkup (external encoder). Sparkup then sends the stream to Teams.

Requirement: a Microsoft account with access to Teams Live Events (Teams Premium or Microsoft 365 E3/E5 with the feature enabled by the administrator).

1. In Teams, click Calendar > the drop-down menu next to New meeting > Live event.
2. Enter the event information, then click Next.
3. Under How will you produce your event?, choose Teams encoder.
4. Finalize the settings and click Schedule.
5. Click Get RTMP link and Get RTMP key to copy the credentials.
6. Enter this information in Sparkup: General > Streaming > External encoder.
7. When it is time to go live, start the stream from Sparkup, then join the event in Teams and click Send live.

Important information

• Non-reusable credentials ⚠️ — Teams RTMP information is generated per event and expires when the event ends. Each new live event generates new credentials.
• Maximum duration — a maximum of 16 hours of continuous broadcasting.
• End sequence — end the event in Teams before stopping the stream in Sparkup.
• Required license — the “Live event with encoder” feature is not available with standard Teams licenses.
• Alternative — if you do not have access to Teams Live Events, you can use OBS or a third-party tool to capture a regular Teams meeting and send it to Sparkup via RTMP.
